The field of Neuroscience is growing by leaps and bounds. Interestingly, neuroscience is confirming the connection to the spirit as a key source of health and well-being. Science is recognizing that we are energy (light) beings in a world that is also full of energy. Every cell in our body has an electrical charge and our nerves have an action potential that fires and causes our muscles to move, our skin to feel, and our heart to beat. The heart has its own electromagnet field that can be captured by an EKG recording our heart rhythm. Science has shown that the heart’s magnetic field can be measured three feet from our body. This magnetic field interacts with the world around us and with the electromagnetic fields of others.
The question that arises in this fast growing field of neuroscience is “What is the source of this energy field that gives life?” We hear terms like energy balancing through mediation, grounding, channeling, Tia Chi, and Reiki. These practices seek to bring inner peace and healing by connecting with the inner self and the energy of the universe. The truth is the inner self is our spirit that came from the Spirit that is the source of life, the creator of all things, who is Love, who is Light, who is the great I AM.
Ecclesiastes 11:5 As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.
The word for spirit in this scripture is Ruach which is translated as “breath”, “wind” or “spirit”. Though, we were created from the dirt of the earth, life only came to the body when the breath of God, the Ruach, was blown into the nostrils of man. The earth is not the source of life. The earth is not our mother. We are spirit beings meant to commune with our Creator who created all things. He is the source of our well being. Communing with Love (God is Love) brings health and life to our mortal bodies. Scripture tells us that all things in heaven and on earth, things visible and invisible were created through Christ, and it is Christ that holds all things together (Colossians 1:15-17). Christ, who descended to the lowest part of the earth also ascended high above the heavens that His presence might fill all things, the whole universe (Ephesians 4:10). The energy, the Source of Life, that we are searching for is Christ. It is His Spirit, the Ruach hakodesh, that holds the whole world together and gives life, peace, and joy. By mediating on Him and His Love, we can have life and life more abundantly (John 10:10).
