Neuroscience News just published a new study from Trinity College in Dublin which revealed that the measure of belly fat in adults 60 and older could be a predictor of cognitive decline. Older adults with increase waist to hip ratio had reduced cognitive function. Dementia is predicted to increase from 24.3 million in 2001 to 81.1 million by 2040. This is a staggering number. What can we do? First and foremost, we must change our thoughts about what we eat and how we live day-to-day. Our current Standard American Diet and lifestyle is contributing to increased inflammation in our body. Inflammation is at the root of illness. Dr. Amen discovered that as our weight goes up our brain atrophies or gets smaller. Stress is another factor that contributes to inflammation in the body. Our busy lives make it hard to cook healthy meals at home. This leads many to eat fast food which is loaded with sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Please join me along with speakers Janell Rardon and Annette Reeder to learn how we can take steps towards leading a healthy life reducing our risk of Dementia, Heart Disease and a host of other illness. Change your thinking and you will change your life and body!
