I heard the Lord say that this is the “Year of Victory”. A year of “new beginnings” and “crossing over” into our destiny. It will be a year of great exploits for the Kingdom of God and he wants us to have “great expectations” for the coming year. Hopefully, you have had time to pray about joining me on my 40 day fast. Fasting is not just about abstaining from food but is about drawing closer to our Lord and Savior. It’s about growing in trust and intimacy with Jesus. Our focus should be like that of Paul in that his primary goal was to “know Him”. Jesus came to reveal the Father and that through Him we could have an intimate relationship with our Abba, our daddy. When we draw close to our Father, we find peace and protection. Scripture tells us that where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom and that in His presence there is the fullness of joy. I have found this to be so true. As I have spent time in His Presence, bondage have been broken off. I always thought an idol was a little fat man statue that people worshipped but I learned that an “idol” is anything we put in front of the Lord. An idol can be food, people, money, pornography, ministry, drugs, alcohol, or our job. It is the love of the Father that changes us and sets us free! Oh how I love Him who loved me first and sent His son to take all my sin so I could live the abundant life. Praise you Father!

Psalm 91:1

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty (whose power no foe can withstand).

I love Psalm 91 and I believe it is the Psalm to mediate on during our fast and to pray over ourselves and our families. I believe it is the Psalm for the times we are living in.  It is a powerful protective Psalm in that it reveals the truth about our Heavenly Father and the protection and peace we can have as we dwell in the “secret place”. What is the “secret place”? I believe it is what we have been uncovering through our study together. It is setting our mind to think on things that are above and to mediate on the love of the Father towards us. Joseph Prince said this in his most recent book, The Prayer of Protection:

“Set your mind on how greatly loved and dearly prized you are. The more conscious you are of the Lord’s love for you, the more His protection will manifest in your life.”

Pastor Prince also said there are no formulas, steps, or shortcuts in walking in divine protection but that “protection is a result of closeness and intimacy with Him.”  Another part of “dwelling in the secret place” is speaking and hearing the Word of God. If Jesus used the Word of God against the devil in the wilderness, it must be important for us as well. Jesus tells us in scripture that His words are “spirit and life”. Jesus is the “bread of life” and in Him there is no darkness. As we fast, let us grow closer to Him the lover of our soul. I will leave you with the word the Lord gave me for this coming year. Word for 2017

Great exploits you will see as I release My Glory like never before; watch and see what I will do says the Lord. Keep a watchful eye on Me as I work all things out for My people. I AM the source of life and an anchor for those who trust Me. Don’t believe the negative reports but keep your eyes on Me your mediator and friend. Great faith is being released to those who believe and trust Me. Look up, look up, now is the time of blessing and favor. Look up, look up now is the time of harvest; Rejoice, Rejoice your time of blessing has come but don’t waver in your trust in Me. I will take you far. It is going to be a great journey with Me as your guide; Don’t listen to the negative voices that will try to hold you back from all of My promises to you.
